Classical Music Concerts, Events, Galas, Competitions, Training for Classical Musicians, Careers in Classical Music

As a consulting firm, Alexander & Buono International enjoys a global reputation as one of the only corporations of its kind. With more than half a century of performance, marketing, and publicity experience as the bedrock for their work, Barry Alexander and Cosmo Buono fully understand the issues associated with enjoying success in the field of classical music, and are therefore able to offer clients counsel, expertise, and results-oriented guidance.

Whether in performance, music education, arts administration, or an array of associated professions, the goal of ABI remains simplifying the process by which artists establish fulfilling lives in the world of classical music.

As the firm has grown, so have its companies, which are designed to facilitate this progression. With competitions for Piano, Voice, Strings, and Flute, publications, a music festival, and a foundation offering scholarships and study grants, ABI is continuing its commitment to helping musicians realize their dreams.

The corporation’s focus is to treat classical music like any other business, while showing clients how to assess, market, and develop their skills in order to create greater visibility and awareness of their work. We also guide them in the process of interfacing with companies, organizations, institutions, and potential audiences through publicity campaigns, and effective use of media. Individual client counseling, business seminars, and career guidance initiatives round out efforts to make sure that we are, in every way possible, helping to not only ensure a strong future for classical music, but also for those who will help define it.

Concert pianist and teacher Cosmo Buono was named a Steinway Artist, thereby joining a list of distinguished performers that includes Murray Perahia, Mitsuko Uchida and Krystian Zimerman, and legends such as Vladimir Horowitz, Rudolf Serkin, and Arthur Rubenstein.

“The high standard you have set with your artistic and professional achievements make it appropriate that you are formally included among a list of the most accomplished and discriminating artists in the world,” wrote Jenn Gordon, Manager of Concert and Artist Activities for Steinway & Sons.

Mr. Buono first came to international prominence with the Bradshaw & Buono piano team, specialists in four hand literature. He and the late David Bradshaw did much to restore awareness of rare works written by Chopin, Liszt, Rossini, and Schubert. Continuing a tradition of distinguished piano duos begun with Liszt-Chopin and Debussy-Casella, they played in major capitals and festivals throughout the world including New York’s Alice Tully Hall, Wigmore Hall in London, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, and the Mostly Mozart Festival, all while creating a discography that includes Grammy-nominated recordings.

As Chairman & CEO of Alexander & Buono International, a consulting firm he founded to provide guidance for classical musicians, he continues to prepare artists for classical careers. In constant demand as a teacher, he has distinguished himself as one of the foremost proponents of the Leschetizky Method, advocating rich, expressive playing, and a complete understanding of the composer’s idiom.

Managing his own studio while supervising music schools in Japan, Mr. Buono also serves as Artistic Director of the Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition, and Executive Director of The Alexander & Buono Festival of Music, which next year celebrates its silver anniversary.
